RIO Expands and Optimises Digital Driver Communication

Less stress and greater transparency in transport logistics thanks to the new Order Communication solution

Munich, 14 October 2025. RIO is strengthening the link between dispatch and driving staff with a product update that reimagines communication. The integrated Order Communication solution from the logistics software experts is now available on the RIO platform as well as on the in-house Transport Management System (TMS), Cartright. For the first time, it seamlessly connects order processing and driver communication. Companies can now record orders, plan routes, and automatically transmit them to their drivers directly within their RIO account. Furthermore, the application can be flexibly integrated into external TMS systems.

With Order Communication, RIO is building a new bridge between dispatch and driving staff: Information about routes, stops or issues is transmitted digitally via RIO’s Pocket Driver app – in real time, comprehensibly and in compliance with data protection regulations. Dispatchers receive up-to-date status reports directly from the vehicle, while drivers can view all relevant tour information at a glance on their smartphone. This significantly reduces media disruptions, follow-up queries and misunderstandings.

From Order Entry to the Last Mile
“Our clients want less manual coordination and more transparency. That’s exactly what Order Communication delivers: communication between dispatch and driver is efficient, traceable and stress-free, regardless of which system is running in the background,” explains Daniel Strucks, Managing Director at RIO.

Smaller fleets in particular benefit from integrated order management directly on the RIO platform. Here, routes and orders can be entered manually, tracked in real time and sent immediately to the Pocket Driver app. Device login is simple via QR code. Disruptions can be reported using predefined text modules and documented with photos. For larger transport providers, the solution is available as an interface in Cartright, enabling even more complex dispatch data to be transmitted digitally to drivers. RIO also offers an API, allowing Order Communication to be connected to any third-party system.

Clear Information Instead of Constant Queries
Dispatchers can track the progress of tours in real time, respond immediately to problems, and communicate directly with drivers via an integrated chat function if needed. Thanks to AI-based translation technology, this happens without language barriers – each user communicates in their native language, while context is preserved. Drivers, in turn, receive clearly structured information from the app about time windows, loading positions and special instructions at stops, complete with direct navigation. Photos, status updates and documents can be exchanged just as easily as feedback on loading discrepancies or damage. Digital signatures for proof of delivery are also integrated.

The economic benefit lies in the significant reduction of administrative effort: Paper-based processes are eliminated, queries are minimised, and transparency throughout the tour enables better customer information and easier rescheduling. Instead of Excel spreadsheets, emails and constant phone calls, communication is structured and traceable for all vehicles in the fleet. RIO is thus setting a clear benchmark for greater efficiency in transport logistics and end-to-end digitalisation.
